What are the procedures involved in converting Bumi lot to Non-Bumi lot?
Bumi quota on a development project is a condition imposed by the local authority on the development order granted to the developer. The developer is obliged to observe and comply with all the conditions stipulated in the development order, including to comply with the Bumi quota. In the event the Bumi quota cannot be fulfilled, it is for the developer to apply for variation of Bumi quota and/or waiver of the same.

Unlike the category of land use and/or any other express conditions in the title to a property, there is no formal procedure for an individual owner/buyer to apply for conversion a Bumi lot to non-Bumi lot.

Having said that, each local authority may have adopted different set of procedures in handling such issue; hence, you may check up with the relevant local authority on the possibility for conversion.
