Scenario

Amanda moved in to her new condominium 6 months ago. Unfortunately, there is water dripping from her ceiling. She reported and sent an official notice to the management body. However, the management body refused to acknowledge her notice and asked her to settle the matter at her own recourse.
Is that true?

Mythbusted.

Under Section 144 of Strata Management Act 2015 (“SMA”), a notice shall be deemed to have been served on that person by serving a copy of notice:- a) personally; or b) by registered post addressed to the last known address of business; or c) by attaching the notice at a prominent part of the last-known address of business. If the management body refuse to acknowledge receipt of notice sent by Amanda sends personally, she may choose to send it by registered post. The receipt of registered post card is good evidence and the management body shall act upon the notice accordingly.
