Scenario

Jenny wishes to sell her condominium in Selangor to her friend, who is a Singaporean. The market price for the condominium is RM600,000.00. She was advised that she can sell her condominium to her friend as long as the price at a minimum of RM500,000.00.
Is that true?

Mythbusted.

The State Government of Selangor has revised the land rules whereby the foreigners are only permitted to purchase residential properties within Selangor that are priced at a minimum of RM2 Million for the following districts:-

(a) Zone 1: Petaling, Gombak, Hulu Langat, Sepang, Klang; and

(b) Zone 2: Kuala Selangor and Kuala Langat.

Whereas the minimum threshold of RM1 Million for those located in Zone 3: Hulu Selangor and Sabak Bernam.

Hence, Jenny’s friend being a non-Malaysia citizen is not allowed to purchase, unless the price of the property reaches the minimum threshold.
