REAL ESTATE
Gaining the entry through FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation), Chris Tan advised FIABCI on constitutional and policy matters particular on setting up of the FIABCI Asia Pacific Regional Secretariat that has impacted the FIABCI structure today. In addition to his service as an evaluator of the Malaysia Property AwardTM, Chris Tan is elected to serve the Malaysian Chapter for two terms from 2006 to 2010 as its National Council Member. Chris Tan is then appointed to the Board of Directors of FIABCI International to preside over the portfolio of Young Members aged 35 and below for the term 2009/ 2010. For his contribution, Chris Tan has been awarded with the FIABCI Medal of Honour for his outstanding services to FIABCI one of the youngest ever recipients of such honour in the history of FIABCI.
In addition to delivering papers on real estate related legal issues locally and overseas, Chris Tan had also presented his public speech in Tsinghua University as well as addressing the investors and fund managers in Burj Al Arab on investing into Malaysia’s Real Estate, Chris Tan regularly offers his comments for newspapers and medias both on-line and off-line. Chris Tan was praised as being the first lawyer for speaking at the Edge Investment Forum on Real Estate in 2009 an again being invited for the same year forum in 2017, 2018 and 2019 to address the challenging markets with legal options.

With such background, Chris Tan was part of the Technical Committee under the National Economic Action Council of the Prime Minister’s Department to devise strategies to stimulate the property sector in Malaysia responsible for the blue print of the Malaysia Property Inc set up under Prime Minister Abdullah’s administration as the very first Public-Private Initiative (PPI) to position Malaysia as an international real estate investment destination.
Chris Tan was appointed as one of the ambassadors of Iskandar Malaysia by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) in year 2013 who takes on a significant role in the campaign and thoughts on the Iskandar moving forward, Chris Tan was also the panel judge for the iProperty People’s Choice Award 2014, 2015 and 2016 to shortlist the finalists for on-line voting.
Being the pioneer advocate of property management, Chris Tan is instrumental in the setting up of The Best Managed Property by the EdgeProp.my and is one of the panel judges in the selection of deserving winners for each and every yearly edition since its inception in 2017. Further to that Chris Tan is recognised as a strata expert in Malaysia and has been advising related issues for government linked company, property developers, assets owner and REITS.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP (STARTUPS AND SME)
Being the entrepreneur that he is, Chris Tan also speaks as the guest host on BFM 89.9 sharing his views on entrepreneurship and legal related matters. He was featured as one of the Gurus in “Pimp My Biz” and giving out advice in “Speed Consulting” as well as “Up The Ante” on the station for startups and SME.
Chris Tan presided over the very first National Youth Entrepreneur Convention in 2008 and appeared as the very first featured speaker in the inaugural Facebook Developer Garage in Malaysia in the same year. Since then, Chris Tan has been a regular speaker and commentator for events on startups; e-commerce, digital marketing and SMEs.
Chris is awarded by the Prestige “Top 40 under 40” (Top Outstanding Young Malaysian Award) in year 2013 for his entrepreneurship.
In 2016, Chris Tan is awarded by Entrepreneur Insight “The 100 Most Influential Young Entrepreneurs”. And at the same year, he is awarded by The Malaysian Australian Alumni Awards 2016 “Young Entrepreneur Award”.
In 2017, Chris Tan led a group of entrepreneurs on a study tour of Australia back to his alma matter of Bond University, and in 2018, Chris Tan led another group of entrepreneurs to UC Berkeley and the Silicon Valley organised by the Malaysian Productivity Council (“MPC”).

Being appointed as the Secretary of Operation that facilitates the organization of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit 2005 is a testament of Chris Tan’s ability in handling regional issues. ENVIRONMENT AND WASTE MANAGEMENT
For many years now, Chris Tan gives in-house advice to the country’s only integrated Industrial Waste Management Center at Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Chris Tan has negotiated many contracts with multinational corporations on pertinent issues in the handling of hazardous and toxic wastes such as the regulatory limitations, treaty provisions, pollution, transboundary movements, treatment methods and costs, waste recovery and recycling as well as other services throughout the value chain.

Chris Tan is a recognized music author that has been granted membership from MACP (Music Authors’ Copyright Protection) since 2003. His close relation with the media and also his in-depth understanding at the media and entertainment industry, made him a friendly target for comments on legal related current issues and also his in-depth understanding at the media and entertainment industry and a preferred moderator for forums and seminars from time to time as well as a frequent guest on radio and TV. He is also the co-host for the inaugural season of the TV Show – “Bernama Property Hot Seat”.

Chris Tan is a keen practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programme (NLP) and a certified NLP Trainer since 2017. He has since conducted NLP Training in both English and Chinese.
Chris Tan is a regular guest speaker for corporate, academic and public events either in Malaysia or Overseas; guest commentator in Chinese and English radio station; as well as frequent article contributor for local and overseas media publication, online and offline, in English, Chinese and Malay, especially in Real Estate.
